Visitor inspections in a besieged commune are protective, not fascist—meant to prevent planted drugs, disease, weapons, or provocations that would justify state repression. Checks are temporary, nonviolent, and end when hostility ceases. Democracy isn’t naive permissiveness; it safeguards a free, peaceful community from sabotage while respecting individuals by minimally verifying that they don’t bring harm.
Being democratic doesn’t mean leaving your door unlocked when attackers are outside; checking visitors is just locking the door to keep everyone safe.
