Beloved Osho, why and how are people coming to you from the four corners of the earth?

If one tells the truth, he's sure to be found out sooner or later -- that's why. It is impossible... if you have uttered the truth, it is impossible for people not to come. They are hankering for it, they are thirsty for it, they are hungry for it; and they have remained hungry for many lives. Once a ripple of truth arises anywhere, a song, those who are hungry -- they may be anywhere on the planet -- something in their unconscious starts happening. Osho, but can all this be done in a village?

Everything can be done at the village level; then the planets will change—it makes no difference. That is, whether one village changes or another is not the issue. If we fix the lifespan at one hundred years for the entire Earth, then those destined for less than a hundred years would no longer be able to be born here; they would have to choose other planets.

Osho, from your talks we get a fairly clear sense of what ought to be done. But how should it be done? And not so much on an individual basis—please tell us, in more detail, what should be done as a community and as a society.

That would be easier if I came again and stayed a day or two. But for now, there is only one thing before the country: do not be in a hurry to do anything, and spread a climate of thought. Do not rush into action right now. Until the country has a right clarity, any attempt at doing will more likely lead to mistakes and upheaval. The country does not yet have a clear mind; haste for action will drop us into a ditch and take us nowhere. So I say: for the next five to ten years, the nation should strive to create a mind. Then action follows that mind the way a shadow follows you. Action in itself is not the main issue. Once the country’s mind is clear, what to do and how to do it both become easy. Osho, I am amazed to see how people are coming to your place of pilgrimage from countries far and wide, undertaking long journeys. And you, it seems, never even step out of your room! What is this miracle? Please explain.

So from the outside it seems that people are coming to this pilgrimage place from distant lands. They are coming because something within their hearts has begun to happen—and the heart recognizes no distances. The heart has never acknowledged distance. Distance is a measuring of the mind. But the heart can cross seven seas, for the heart knows how to dare. The intellect is a coward; it fears, it hesitates; it ties the boat with a strong chain to the shore, lest the boat slip away unknowingly. There are storms on the ocean—and there are always storms on the ocean, sometimes less, sometimes more. And the boat is small, the ocean vast; and the other shore is not visible.
