According to Osho, desire is the vital link between consciousness and the body: the body and its senses arise to serve desire. Life-as-consciousness can be desireless, but then bodily existence cannot continue—only its residual momentum persists briefly. A strong will to live sustains health and rebirth; when desire ceases totally, medicine loses leverage, the body winds down, and there is no rebirth.
Desire powers your body like fuel; without it the body slows and stops, while awareness remains, and when all desire ends, even returning (rebirth) stops.
