Why do we have to endure suffering instead of experiencing a painless end?

Suffering arises from our clinging to the ego; true liberation comes only when we willingly embrace the inner death of self, allowing the old to dissolve and the new to emerge in bliss.

— Osho
According to Osho, we suffer because we cling to the ego—the protective shell—and refuse the only real 'painless end': a voluntary inner death. No one can force this; it must be chosen wholeheartedly. Meditation should be embraced as dying to the ego. When we consent to this self-surrender, the old identity dissolves, a new being is born, and suffering ends in natural bliss.

We hurt because we won’t let the old ‘me’ break; when we freely let it go inside, a new, happier life grows.
