Why are the enlightened ones not able to bestow nirvana upon everyone?

Nirvana cannot be given; it is the blossoming of your own inner being, requiring a deep, personal longing and transformation that cannot be imposed by even the greatest of masters.

— Osho
According to Osho, nirvana cannot be given because it isn’t an object but your own inner blossoming. Even a Buddha can only point; ultimate freedom cannot be imposed. It requires an urgent, wholehearted longing and personal transformation, while most people seek wealth, power, and pleasuredesires that obstruct it. When receptivity ripens through intense yearning and effort, it flowers from within.

You can’t hand someone awakening like a gift; they must truly want it and do the inner work themselves.
