According to Osho, desires are negative because they spring from the ego’s urge to achieve; they enforce will, extremism, and violence upon oneself. Even the longing for enlightenment is just another egoic desire. It is useful only until its futility is fully seen. Real awakening comes when all striving collapses—worldly and spiritual—leaving relaxed, desireless awareness. In that total failure, the ego drops and enlightenment happens by itself.
Wanting anything—even enlightenment—keeps you chasing; when you stop wanting and simply rest, truth arrives on its own.
