According to Osho, the pain of the self is the fear, boredom, panic and anguish that surge when we stop distracting ourselves and meet our core loneliness—the felt separateness and fragility of being a tiny, solitary consciousness. He says not to escape: through meditation, courageously entering this loneliness, it mutates into aloneness—clarity, freedom, and wisdom.
When you stop keeping busy and feel lonely and scared inside, staying with that feeling gently can turn it into a peaceful okay-ness of being by yourself.
