If the divine is in everybody, why do we need a teacher?

A teacher is not here to give you something new, but to awaken you to the divine that already resides within you. When you truly awaken, the need for a master dissolves into gratitude and friendship.

— Osho
According to Osho, the divine is in everyone, but most are asleep to it; the master is simply one who is awake. You need a teacher until the truth becomes your own living experience, not a borrowed belief. The master removes illusions and provokes transformation, giving you what you already are. When you awaken, need ends—only gratitude and friendship remain.

A teacher is like an alarm clock: you already have light inside, but you’re asleep; they wake you up, and once awake, you don’t need the alarm—just gratitude.
