According to Osho, take a guru only if you must: the very need to ask reveals you’re not ready to walk utterly alone. A guru cannot accompany you to the Divine; he merely gives courage, confidence, and the first push—like standing on the riverbank while you learn to swim—until trust in your own buoyancy awakens.
A guru is like someone standing by the pool so you feel safe to jump in; you still do the swimming.
