According to Osho, a politician cannot be religious because politics seeks power over others to compensate for inner inferiority, while religion seeks mastery of oneself. Politics is an outward journey toward status and control; religion is an inward journey toward awareness and the divine. With only one life-energy, you cannot simultaneously pursue outer domination and inner realization; the outer quest must cease.
