According to Osho, people miss the tantric dimension because they are trapped in the mind’s pendulum between repression and indulgence. Centuries of Christian suppression in the West fuel a compensatory obsession with sex; indulgence, in turn, breeds frustration and new puritanism. Obsession—whether anti-sex or pro-sex—prevents conscious, celebrative lovemaking. Tantra requires awareness beyond both extremes, not reactionary morality or compulsive gratification.
We keep swinging between saying no and grabbing too much, so we never become calm and aware enough for love to turn sacred.
