What is the relationship between enlightenment and levity?

Enlightenment is not bound by a fixed emotional state; it can manifest as sadness or anger, yet always rooted in compassion and authenticity.

— Osho
According to Osho, enlightenment has no fixed emotional climate: each awakened one expresses uniquely. Levity may appear, but it isn’t a criterion; an enlightened person can seem sad or even angry, yet of a different quality—rooted in compassion, not repression. Basho’s beautiful sadness arises from compassion; Krishnamurti’s anger from frustrated compassion. Humor, too, can be used playfully as a device, not as proof.

Being enlightened doesn’t mean you must be funny; you might look sad or angry, but it comes from caring, and humor is just a helpful tool, not the goal.
