What happens when I perceive an aura while listening to teachings?

When you perceive an aura while listening, it signifies that your inner strings are harmonizing with existence; embrace the moment, but do not cling—patience will reveal the deeper transformation.

— Osho
According to Osho, perceiving an aura while listening is a sign that your inner strings are coming into tune with existence—the ‘right hour’ has ripened. Such phenomena arise on their own when receptivity matures. Welcome it, but don’t cling, doubt, or chase it; simply continue listening and waiting. Like a miner one foot from gold, patience and persistence let the deeper transformation unfold.

Seeing a glow means you’re finally opening up inside—stay calm and keep listening.

Osho, when I listen to you with my eyes closed, it feels as if many waves are entering my body; when I gaze at you steadily without blinking, I see a white halo around you. This aura seems connected with the aura of certain sannyasins. Sometimes during the discourse I also experience something like a gentle electric shock. I have been listening to you for two years, but these experiences have been happening only for the last fifteen days. How should I listen to you—eyes closed or open? Please guide me. Suman Bharti has asked!

Life is like that. Who knows when you might turn back? If at any point in these two years you had turned back, Suman—there must have been chances to turn back—you would have missed, and missed badly. When it will happen cannot be said. And in these two years, many times in your mind, seeing others, the thought must have arisen: “They must be in delusion—hallucinating. It’s a mental aberration.” Because when something is not happening to us and it happens to someone else, the natural inclination is to call it illusion. “His brain is disordered. He’s not in his senses. What halos? What tinklings? What music? What electric shocks! If all this is happening, the man must be pathological. Better not sit near him tomorrow—diseases are contagious.” Many times, Suman, you must have felt that what is happening to others is wrong. But now, what had looked wrong has…

Osho, the other day while listening to your discourse, a strange kind of vibration arose in the heart and along the auditory nerves; since then even ordinary sounds set off odd ripples and waves of bliss. Please tell me: is there something in the voice of enlightened ones that produces a special effect? Also, in your presence there is a particular, delightful fragrance; at times it is felt in the ashram and sometimes during meditation as well. In this regard, please say whether certain moments in time have their own special fragrance too.

I speak with the same purpose with which a musician plays the vina. He does not play to explain anything. Remember me as a vina player. My speaking is my vina. What I am saying to you—less am I speaking, more am I singing. If you understand its purpose, that is enough: listening to this instrument—as one sometimes, listening to a vina, falls into a trance—one begins to sway; something within begins to vibrate; something like a stone inside begins to melt and flow. For a moment a window, an opening, is there—sky is glimpsed. Like a flash of lightning—the darkness is gone—even if only for a moment; but then you know that light is, and you also know there is a path. It was revealed for a moment in the lightning’s flare, but revealed it was. Now no one can tell you there is no path; no one can…

A white and small aura is visible just over your head. Why is not a colored one visible?

IT IS a colored one -- but all the colors are there, hence it looks white. White is not colorless. White is the presence of all the colors together. White is the most colorful thing in the world -- hence it looks white. When a white ray passes through a prism it divides into seven colors. That's how a rainbow is created in the rainy season. Small particles of water hanging in the air function as prisms. White rays of sun enter through those hanging particles of water and are divided into seven colors. If you mix all the colors in the right proportions, you will create white. White is all the colors together. I am not a Buddhist, I am not a Hindu, I am not a Christian, I am not a Jain, I am not a Mohammedan -- and I am all. All colors together! Hence white is…
The Secret · Discourse 14Question 1 1978-10-24 Buddha Hall English

Osho, I keep meeting people who can see auras, and I feel I am missing. What can I do to share this sight?

Anand Buddha, God is not an experience. No experience as such is spiritual; all experiences are mind games. Beware of it. Whatsoever can be seen will be part of the illusory world. The seer is the truth, not the seen. You can see auras and you can see angels and you can see kundalini rising and you can see inner lights -- but they are all seen. They are not you. The seer is the witness, and only the witness is the truth. All else is a dream. And there are worldly dreams and there are other-worldly dreams; there are materialistic dreams and there are spiritualistic dreams. One thing has to be remembered always, that whatsoever is seen is worthless -- even if it is God. The God that is seen is worthless. When all experiences disappear and you are left utterly alone, nothing to see, only emptiness in the…
Ka Sovai Din Rain · Discourse 6 1978-04-05 Pune Hindi

Osho, yesterday you explained that with joyful awareness (sukh-purvak surati) resolution happens on its own. Yet I find myself having to go through great effort, practice, and labor—why? How long, and why, must a seeker pass through so much effort, toil, and austerity?

If there is laziness in the mind, even little things feel like great effort. It’s a matter of your interpretation. In truth, you are not exerting at all. I tell you, those who are near me and engaged in “practice” are the people on earth who are laboring the least. You have no idea what real effort is. When a person is deeply lazy, even trivial things seem like toil. What are you actually doing? What is it you keep calling “great effort”? Which great effort are you making? You dance a little—and you call that great effort? Is dancing an effort? Dancing is joy! But your perspective is wrong. If you take joy to be effort, you have missed. Dancing is celebration, a juicy happening. Where is the effort in it? If even dancing is effort for you, then what would non-effort be? If I tell you, “Just sit…
