According to Osho, accepting a master without studying scriptures is not wrong; if genuine guru-bhava (the urge to surrender) arises, it means previous lifetimes have already distilled the scriptures within you. The touchstone is transformation: enduring shifts—less greed, anger, and lust; deeper compassion, equanimity, and presence. If the feeling is transient and personality-induced, it’s mere influence, not true discipleship.
If surrender to a master brings steady inner change, you don’t need books; if it fades like a movie feeling, it isn’t real.
