According to Osho, no—the disciple should not feel a need for the master. Need belongs to things and turns people into commodities; it imprisons. The Zen relationship is love: a free, grateful sharing between master and disciple, with no dependency on either side. Love honors dignity and gives wings; need creates chains. Be receptive, not needy.
