Why doesn't trust arise out of the decision to trust?

Trust is not a decision but a natural flowering that arises when doubt is seen through; it is the absence of doubt, like light dispelling darkness.

— Osho
According to Osho, trust can’t be manufactured by a decision; it flowers when doubt has been seen through and naturally disappears. Trust is not the opposite of doubt but its absence, like light to darkness. Deciding to “trust” merely masks living doubt and breeds fanaticism. Attend to doubt itself—understand its futility—then, without effort or quantity, simple trust arises on its own.

You don’t get real trust by forcing it; when you fully see your doubts are empty, they fall away and trust appears like light when darkness is gone.
