When does a Master transition from being a slayer to a savior?

A Master becomes a savior the moment the disciple surrenders, for in letting go of the ego, the ferryman reveals his true nature.

— Osho
According to Osho, a Master appears a slayer only while the disciple resists ‘dying’—clinging to ego, life-as-known, baggage and beliefs. The instant the disciple surrenders—drops all defense, consents to the inner death, and says “Here is my neck”—the Master is revealed as a savior. The Master was always a ferryman; the shift happens in the disciple’s willingness to let go.

When you stop fighting and let your old self die, the teacher stops breaking you and simply helps you cross.
