What is the difference between a disciple and a follower?

A follower clings to safety and belief, while a disciple dares to gamble with their whole being, embodying the truth without hesitation.

— Osho
According to Osho, the difference between a disciple and a follower is vast: a follower believes and praises yet postpones living the truth, avoids risk, calculates profit, and stays safe; a disciple examines, understands, and then stakes everything to embody the truth, walking the path immediately, courageously, beyond convenience, reputation, or gain—moving from shopkeeping to gambling with one’s whole being.

A follower says “yes” but won’t change; a disciple sees it’s true and lives it, even if it’s scary.
