What is it to be selfish?

True selfishness is to drop the ego; in the absence of expectations, life unfolds in gratitude, contentment, and bliss.

— Osho
According to Osho, true selfishness is to drop the ‘self’—the ego that expects, compares, and is always ready to be hurt. Egoic ‘selfishness’ only breeds misery and endless frustration, like a bottomless begging bowl. When the ego dissolves, expectations fall away, and ordinary life becomes fulfilling; gratitude, contentment, and bliss arise naturally. Real self-interest is egolessness.

Let go of the “me, me, me” inside, and life starts feeling good without trying.
