According to Osho, echoing Gurdjieff, humanity divides into seven grades: man 1 (body-centered/instinctive), man 2 (emotion-centered), man 3 (mind-centered); these three are mechanical. Man 4 becomes balanced through conscious work; man 5 crystallizes a real "I"; man 6 attains higher, stable consciousness; man 7 is fully awakened. Osho playfully adds "zero" - nobodiness - beyond all types.
People begin ruled by body, heart, or head; with practice they balance, grow a real self, and finally wake up.
