How can we learn to distinguish between a false image and a real one in ourselves?

Drop the masks of thought and social reward, and in the silence of non-reactive awareness, your original face will be revealed.

— Osho
According to Osho, you can’t pick a ‘real’ face from your current identities: all are utilitarian masks built by thought and social reward. The real—your original face—appears when false ones drop. Practice non-reactive awareness (meditation): watch thoughts without for-or-against. In thoughtless witnessing, masks dissolve, and the undroppable, authentic presence is revealed.

Don’t choose a “true” identity; just watch your thoughts quietly until the pretend masks fall off and what stays by itself is you.
