Ma Amrit Priya

Ma Amrit Priya is a singer of Osho’s bhajans, a meditation teacher, and a founding member and leading Acharya of Osho Fragrance. Born on 8 May 1958, she took sannyas in 1973, and in 1979 completed an M.A. in Philosophy and the Prabhakar degree in music. The same year she married Swami Shailendra Saraswati, Osho’s younger brother.

With Osho

She lived in the Osho Commune in Pune from 1978 to 1981, and at Rajneeshpuram in Oregon from 1982 to 1985. Back in India she taught music at the OPM School in Amlai, Madhya Pradesh, while Swami Shailendra was a doctor at the OPM hospital there. From August 1989 to September 1990 she lived in the Pune commune again, during Osho’s last days.

Osho answered her questions by name in several of his 1980 Hindi discourses, and he enjoyed her singing. She was one of the main singers at the Guru Purnima keertan of 29 July 1988, and on 9 April 1989 she sang before and after The Zen Manifesto #10, one of the last discourses Osho gave.

Music

Forty of her bhajan albums have become popular with seekers, from the keertans of the late 1980s to the new songs of Guru Purnima 2026. Her recordings are also published on music streaming services under her own name.

Teaching

With Swami Shailendra she leads meditation programmes across India, and she guides meditations such as Golden Flower, Yoga Nidra, Suraksha Kavach and Mahamantra. Since March 2020 they have also held their meditation camps online. Several books have been compiled from her television discourses. They live at Shree Rajneesh Dhyan Mandir (Osho Fragrance) in Murshidpur, Sonipat, Haryana.
