Healthier bodies help, but wisdom comes from waking up inside; build good bodies so wise souls want to come, then help them awaken.

Osho, you discussed how science could organize the creation of superior human bodies. But what will be achieved by superior bodies alone? How can science choose superior souls? And how will it ensure that only superior souls enter excellent bodies? This task would have to be done by a pure, enlightened soul like you. Science may be able to produce a scientist or a Hitler, but how could one arrange to bring forth a Krishna, a Mahavira, or a Buddha? Please shed light on this.
And souls are eager; infinite souls are always wandering, ready to enter wombs. And you will be surprised to know: ordinary souls enter immediately, because ordinary wombs are always available—thousands of fools are engaged in intercourse, twenty-four hours somewhere or other... somewhere it is night. And now the modern man doesn’t even count day and night; he is at sex day or night—who cares! Everywhere there are wombs available for ordinary people to be born. But extraordinary beings have to wait for many years to take birth, because such an extraordinary womb is not available. If we can provide extraordinary wombs, we can fill the earth with Buddhas, with Mahaviras. And certainly, if people are healthy, prosperous, intelligent, then what you say, Anand Veetrag—that this work will have to be done by a pure, enlightened soul like you—my work will become simple. The work of awakening the soul will become…
Osho, what are the factors that make a womb worthy of the descent of a higher soul, or only of an inferior one? What preparations are needed so that a noble soul can enter the womb? How should they be done? And what particular characteristics did the wombs in which Buddha, Mahavira, Krishna, and Christ were born have, compared to ordinary wombs?
There are many yogic postures that create specific pressures, many breathing processes that do the same, and many sound intonations that apply particular pressures. All of these support the child’s talent, health, capacities, and possibilities to manifest fully. So far, man keeps discovering countless troublesome things, but what is truly needed—that man discover his own future—very little search is happening there. Yet all this is entirely possible. As soon as a child enters the mother, glimpses of that child’s possibilities begin to arise in the mother. It is a two-way process. If the mother becomes angry during these days, the child will be prone to anger; and if an angry soul has entered, a mother who never used to be angry will find anger arising. This too is very indicative, and seeing such indications experiments can be made to transform that child’s anger from the seed itself. Even today there…
Osho, in yesterday’s talk you said that a seeker should first be concerned with becoming a vessel, and should not go about begging from place to place. But the very meaning of a seeker is that he has obstacles in practice. He doesn’t know how to become a vessel, how to prepare. So if he does not go asking, what should he do? How difficult it is to meet the right guide!
But searching and begging are two different things. In fact, the one who does not want to search is the one who begs. Searching and begging are not the same; they are opposites. He who wants to avoid searching begs; a seeker never begs. And the processes of searching and begging are entirely different. In begging you have to keep your attention on the other—the one who will give. In searching you have to keep your attention on yourself—the one who is to receive. It is true that there are obstacles on the path of the seeker. But if we understand rightly, saying there are obstacles on the path of the seeker means the obstacles are within the seeker; the path too is within. And to understand one’s obstacles is not very difficult. So we will have to speak a little more extensively on what the obstacles are and how…
What are the distinguishing features that make a womb worthy enough to receive a higher soul, and what are the characteristics of a womb in which an inferior soul may enter? What preparations are necessary in order that a higher soul may descend? How are the preparations made? As compared to ordinary wombs, how special were the wombs that carried great souls like buddha, mahavira, krishna, and jesus?
Ordinarily, babies are born in the darkness of night. And normally, people make love in dark chambers, sneakily, with a sense of fear and guilt. People look at sex as if it is some kind of sin, a crime which has to be done surreptitiously, without anyone knowing about it. Obviously, sex of this kind is bound to produce grave consequences. In order to make love, freedom, openness, purity are essential. At the time of lovemaking, even small things bring distinct results, such as the color on the walls, the light in the room, the fragrance. A whole science exists around it. If we could make use of the science of child-conception, a complete transformation of the human race could be brought about. Even little things make a difference. Currently, a scientist is carrying on a small experiment which will bring about a fundamental change. He has devised a small…
Is this difference -- the difference in their stages -- due to their own choice, or is it their destiny?
To me, the solution to the whole problem takes on a different shape. Do not divide them. They are not two, they are already one -- they have always been one. When the energy becomes conscious it is soul, when it becomes unconscious it becomes body. Sometimes you are more a soul and less a body, sometimes you are more a body and less a soul. This flickering back and forth between one and the other goes on continuously. In the morning you may be more a soul, in the evening you are more a body. When you are in anger you are more a body, when you are in love you are more a soul. The degrees change continuously. When you meditate your consciousness expands and your body shrinks; when you take an intoxicant your consciousness shrinks and your body expands. Body and consciousness are two poles of one…
