If your smarty-brain feels gone, relax—it’s just the fake, borrowed stuff dropping so your real, natural smarts can grow.

Osho! In coming to you I seem to have lost my intellect. What should I do?
Chandulal said, “Don’t ask, my friend. These days I am terribly troubled by my wife’s obesity. It’s gotten to the point that when I go out with her, people say, ‘Brother Chandulal, where are you taking your mother?’ I sink in shame. I have tried every rule and regimen, fasts and vows—whatever I could—but her weight refuses to budge. And ever since I had her ‘exorcised’ by the broom-wielding baba, she’s been getting even fatter. Now only you can help. If you know anything, tell me.” Nasruddin closed his eyes for a moment, thought, and said, “Do this: for a month, have her do horse-riding. By God’s grace, she might slim down.” A month later, when Nasruddin saw Chandulal passing by, he stopped him. “Well, Chandulal, any results?” “Yes, my friend—she’s dried up to half,” said Chandulal. “See! I told you…,” Nasruddin began, delighted. Chandulal cut in, “Man, I’m not…
Osho, why has human faith in religion waned?
Then there is a further fall. This is when, around Buddha, people hear, oppose, accept. Then two-and-a-half thousand years pass. One generation hands it to the next. Those who had heard from Buddha, or at least seen him—some hint of truth must have reached their ears; some touch of Buddha’s presence must have touched them; some color of Buddha must have fallen upon their souls—however slight, it fell. Then their sons and their sons’ sons believe because the fathers believed, the forefathers believed, people have always believed—and then belief becomes blind belief. What you call religions are superstitions. They should have been bid farewell long ago. New editions of truth descend from the sky every day. A new Koran descends every day. God has not grown tired, has not exhausted Himself with Mohammed. Jesus is not God’s only son—as Christians say, the only begotten. Nor did God come to an…
Beloved Osho, each time I come close to you, it looks like my mind doesn't work any more. I cannot hold on to any concrete thought; everything disappears as if in a white, light cloud. On one side it is like coming home after all this intense longing, and on the other side the fear of becoming crazy comes up. Is this the fear of losing control, or the first step of becoming a disciple and part of a divine madness? Am I on the right path?
He said, "I am a poor man; I don't understand anything about what these great engineers are thinking. But it is a very simple matter... and they seem to be finding it almost impossible to remove it. There is no need to remove it. Just dig a hole around the rock; go on digging the hole and pulling out the mud. The rock will sit deeper in the hole and it won't be a barrier. You need not be worried how to take it out, there is no need. It can just become part of the road -- it is such a beautiful rock. But I am a poor farmer. I may be absolutely wrong, I don't know. But this is how we work in our fields if some problem arises." Lenin has written in his diary, "That day I felt that to be intellectually trained is one thing, and…
Since I have been here, I have lost my ability to concentrate. It is hard for me to utter a logical sentence. And I have become very forgetful. I feel myself as a stupid child. Is that the way to me intelligence you talk about?
Legs in perfect order are needed so that whenever you need to, you can walk, you can run. But when there Is no need, you can relax, and the legs will no longer be functioning. But your concentration has become almost as focused as if you are continuously preparing for an Olympic! Runners in an Olympic cannot relax. They have to run a particular amount every morning and evening; they are continuously on the go. If they relax for a few days they will lose their skill. But I call all Olympics political, ambitious, foolish. There is no need. Competition is foolish. There is no need. If you enjoy running -- perfectly good. Run. and enjoy. But why compete? What is the point of competition? Competition brings illness, unhealthiness; competition brings jealousy, and a thousand and one diseases. Meditation will allow you to concentrate whenever the need arises, but if…
Mind, intellect, and the formed contents of that mind are it, so too are the world and all that seems from it to differ,
ALL THINGS THAT CAN BE SENSED, AND THE PERCEIVER, ALSO DULLNESS, AVERSION, DESIRE, AND ENLIGHTENMENT. LIKE A LAMP THAT SHINES IN THE DARKNESS OF SPIRITUAL UNKNOWING, IT REMOVES OBSCURATIONS OF A MIND AS FAR AS THE FRAGMENTATIONS OF INTELLECT OBTAIN. WHO CAN IMAGINE THE SELF-BEING OF DESIRELESSNESS? THERE'S NOTHING TO BE NEGATED, NOTHING TO BE AFFIRMED OR GRASPED; FOR IT CAN NEVER BE CONCEIVED. BY THE FRAGMENTATIONS OF THE INTELLECT ARE THE DELUDED FETTERED; UNDIVIDED AND PURE REMAINS SPONTANEITY. IF YOU QUESTION ULTIMACY WITH THE POSTULATES OF THE MANY AND THE ONE, ONENESS IS NOT GIVEN, FOR BY (TRANSCENDING) KNOWLEDGE ARE SENTIENT BEINGS FREED. THE RADIANT IS POTENCY LATENT IN THE INTELLECT, AND THIS IS SHOWN TO BE MEDITATION; UNSWERVING MIND IS OUR TRUE ESSENCE. I told her that it seemed she had not heard that Zen people in Japan will first purchase a cup from the supermarket, bring it…
