Turmoil

Osho, ever since I became your sannyasin there has been great turmoil. Strangers are one thing, even my own have turned into strangers. My very ecstasy seems to be provoking their anger. What should I do now?

Chinmayananda! Now be even more intoxicated! What else will you do? What is left to do now? You cannot go back; there is no way back. We lived in mirages; you lived in mirages too. Why did we? Let us at least think—thinking is good, even so. People have lived in mirages and are living in mirages; they have even forgotten how to think. I am saying only this to them: think once again, reconsider. I am reawakening the problems. People are angry because they believed the problem had been solved. They thought, We have the solution—what is there to do now? Now spread your sheet and sleep. Osho, people are calling it a sham that, having surrendered myself at your feet, I have become unburdened and blissful. What should I say to them?

Hari Vedant! They are quite right. They have to say it. They are not saying anything about you; they are only defending themselves. If you are right, then they are wrong. Only if you are wrong can they protect their sense of being right. So do not be angry with them. Understand their feeling. They have become afraid of you, frightened of you. Your joy has become a danger to them, a challenge. If you are truly joyous, then they will have to change their lives. They too have been seeking joy and have not found it. They too have wanted to be so carefree and intoxicated, to dance, to sing songs of joy dropping all social restraints—whose heart has not desired that? Beloved Osho, dancing with you, laughing with you, enjoying the sheer ecstasy that you provoke in me, my mind is left far, far behind.
