According to Osho, compassion has no opposing element. Hardness opposes pity - both belong to the dual world of desire - but compassion is the bridge from desire to desirelessness, a quality of being that does not depend on the other. Like a lamp shining regardless of who passes, compassion is non-dual presence, not the counterpole of anything.
Compassion doesn’t have an opposite; hardness is the opposite of pity, while compassion is a steady light that shines for everyone.
