You feel a clear inside feeling of energy going up from your belly to your head—like warm fire or a snake uncoiling—and you just know it’s happening.

Osho, in the Nargol camp you said that kundalini practice is the body’s preparation. Please explain clearly what this means.
I was reading a story: two peasants rode a train for the first time. It was both their birthdays, in a hill village. The villagers wanted to gift them something; a new train had started, so they gave them tickets to take a ride. They boarded, curious about everything. A vendor came selling soda; they said, “Let’s buy one bottle and share it. If it’s good, we’ll buy another.” The first man drank half; just then the train entered a tunnel. The second man grabbed the bottle: “Don’t finish it—save half for me.” The first shouted, “Don’t touch it! I have been struck blind! Don’t touch it—it has blinded me!” The train had entered the tunnel. The antecedent seemed the cause. So we assume causes, but do not know where the energy truly comes from; we don’t know how much more can come, or how much is possible. A wave…Read the full discourse →
Osho, how are rapid breathing and asking “Who am I?” related to the awakening of kundalini and the process of piercing the chakras?
Controlled descent of energy through shaktipat Ordinarily, man has two ways to deliver such blows; exceptionally there is a third, which we call shaktipat—the astral route. It requires a medium. If another person is present as a helper, your inner intensity can increase. In that case the other person does nothing; his presence is enough. He becomes a medium. Infinite energy is all around. We put a lightning rod atop a house so that if lightning strikes it will go to ground; even without a rod, lightning can strike—but then the whole house may be shattered. With the rod it passes. Lightning has been falling from the beginning; only recently did we think of the rod. Likewise, infinite energies surround man; they can be used for his spiritual growth—if there is a medium. You yourself can become a medium, but at first this can be dangerous. The descent may be…Read the full discourse →
A friend has asked: How can we recognize that the awakening of Kundalini has happened within us?
When you have a headache, how do you recognize it? When your stomach is hungry, how do you recognize it? When the body is ill, how do you recognize it—and when it is healthy, how do you recognize that from within? In exactly the same way, no inner event can remain unknown. Kundalini too is recognized. Those who have known have said a few things; they are symbolic, and finally they don’t mean much, because in each person there will be differences—subtle differences. Still, a few outward indicators can be understood. Real understanding will arise from within when the event happens. For instance, we have seen fire: a flame always moves upward. Water always moves downward. Leave water unsupported and it settles into hollows; leave fire to itself and it is lost in the sky. It is the nature of fire to rise; it is the nature of water to…Read the full discourse →
Questioner: you said at the nargol meditation camp held recently, that the sadhana or discipline of kundalini is a way of preparing the body. Will you please explain it?
In a deeper physical sense, the awakening of the kundalini means that you have so much energy with you that your old channels are not able to contain it, and so it irresistibly seeks new avenues and new doors. As a result, many new and subtle senses within you will become awake and active. These extrasensory centers will make you telepathic and clairvoyant; you will begin to see and hear things which are beyond the reach of your ordinary eyes and ears. You will experience certain things your normal senses have nothing to do with. Altogether new sense organs will become active within you. And the most profound result of the intensification of the new senses will be that you will begin to know the invisible world which lies hidden in your body, which is the most subtle and imperceptible part of your body, and which we call the atman…Read the full discourse →
Osho, I want to be rich, I want a high position, and I want a beautiful woman too. What should I do?
A man once placed an advertisement—meant for people like you: “Send two rupees and learn the formula to become a millionaire overnight.” Now who wouldn’t want to become a millionaire for two rupees! Almost a hundred thousand people sent their money. A week later, everyone who had sent the two rupees received the reply: “Do exactly what I did.” He had indeed become a millionaire overnight! One lakh people sent two rupees each—two lakhs landed in his lap. This is how you’re being duped—through gambling, matka. And it’s not only people who run these scams; governments do it too. Governments that claim to be Gandhian run lotteries! A lottery is gambling—a cheat dressed up nicely. But the greedy get hooked: “Just one rupee for a chance at lakhs. If it comes once, that’s enough…!” But what will you do after getting lakhs? There’s a famous story by Tolstoy: A tailor…Read the full discourse →
