How can I exercise 'stop' when an impulse is authentic and I am unaware?

Train your awareness on simple acts, and in the stillness of that pause, you will learn to master the hotter impulses of life.

— Osho
According to Osho, you cannot apply 'Stop!' reliably when a hot, authentic impulse erupts unless you've trained awareness on cold, simple acts. Practice sudden stopping in easy, mechanical situations—walking, gestures, speech, habits—until a felt pause and inner calm appear. Then progress stepwise to subtler, hotter impulses like anger or sex. This gradual mastery lets energy turn inward when you stop authentically.

First practice hitting the pause button in small, easy moments, so later you can pause even when big feelings like real anger show up.
