बुद्धपुरुषों ने कहा कि अगर तुम चाहते हो कि मौत से छुटकारा हो जाए, तो जीवन से छुटकारा चाहिए। जब तक तुम जीवन को पकड़ोगे, मौत भी आती ही रहेगी। तुम्हारे जीवन को पकड़ने में ही तुमने मौत को निमंत्रण दे दिया। जीवेषणा मौत को लाएगी। और जीवन और मृत्यु का चाक घूमता रहेगा। तुम जीवन को छोड़ो, मौत अपने से छूट जाती है। तुमने सम्मान चाहा तो अपमान आता ही रहेगा। तुम सम्मान छोड़ो, अपमान अपने से छूट जाता है। तुमने कुछ परिग्रह करना चाहा, तो तुम्हारे जीवन में कभी न कभी खोने का दुख झेलना ही बदा है। तुम खुद ही छोड़ दो, फिर तुमसे कुछ भी छूट नहीं सकता। पकड़ोगे तो छूटेगा। न पकड़ोगे तो छूटने की बात ही समाप्त हो गयी।
Consider movement stationary and the stationary in motion, and both the state of movement and the state of rest disappear. When such dualities cease to exist oneness itself cannot exist. To this ultimate finality no law or description applies.

Osho, what is the definition of God?
Words are very small. If you say God is light, then what of darkness? The scriptures have said that God is light. Suppose we accept this as a definition—then what about darkness? Where will darkness go? Darkness is too; in fact it is far more than light. Light sometimes is and sometimes is not; darkness is always, eternal. Where will you place darkness? If you say God is light, darkness is left out. If you say God is darkness, then light is left out. If you say God is both darkness and light, a contradiction arises: they cannot be together. Try to have both darkness and light in the same room. If you bring in light, darkness disappears; if you preserve darkness, you cannot have light. Then how can both be together? शब्द तो बड़े छोटे-छोटे हैं। अगर कहो परमात्मा प्रकाश है, तो फिर अंधेरे का क्या होगा? ऐसा कहा है शास्त्रों में कि परमात्मा प्रकाश है। चलो मान लें इसे परिभाषा, फिर अंधेरे का क्या होगा? फिर अंधेरा कहां जायेगा? अंधेरा भी है, प्रकाश से कहीं ज्यादा है। प्रकाश तो कभी होता है कभी नहीं भी होता; अंधेरा सदा है, शाश्वत है। अंधेरे को कहां रखोगे? अगर कहा परमात्मा प्रकाश है, तो अंधेरा बाहर पड़ गया। अगर कहा परमात्मा अंधेरा है, तो प्रकाश बाहर पड़ गया। अगर कहो परमात्मा अंधेरा प्रकाश दोनों है, तो विरोधाभास होता है। दोनों एक साथ हो नहीं सकता। एक ही कमरे में अंधेरा और प्रकाश करके दिखाओ। प्रकाश करोगे, अंधेरा खो जायेगा; अंधेरा बचाओगे, प्रकाश न कर सकोगे। तो दोनों साथ कैसे होंगे? तब एक असंभव बात हो गई। तो यह भी नहीं कह सकते कि दोनों है।
A friend has asked: Osho, while explaining the vast form of the Divine, yesterday you spoke of the dialectical existence of birth and death, creation and dissolution, the beautiful and the terrible, and so on. Please explain whether that supreme truth which is called Amrit or Sat-Chit-Ananda is the sum of these opposites, or whether it is some third reality beyond the two.
Duality is all around. Wherever you look in the world, you will never see the One; the opposite will always be present. The very way the world exists is impossible without the opposite. Understand this one thing well. Just as a mason builds an arched doorway by fitting opposite bricks together—if the bricks are laid all in one direction, the arch will collapse. Opposing bricks, by working against each other, become the very support that holds the doorway up. The whole universe is made of opposing bricks. There is light only because there is also darkness; and darkness can be only so long as there is light. Light and darkness are opposite bricks, for two reasons. द्वंद्व चारों ओर है। संसार में जहां भी देखेंगे, वहां एक कभी भी दिखाई नहीं पड़ेगा। विपरीत सदा मौजूद होगा। संसार के होने का ढंग ही विपरीत के बिना असंभव है। इस एक बात को ठीक से समझ लें। जैसे कि कोई मकान बनाने वाला राजगीर विपरीत ईंटों को जोड़कर गोल दरवाजा बनाता है। अगर एक ही रुख में ईंटें लगाई जाएं, तो दरवाजा गिर जाए। विपरीत ईंटें एक-दूसरे के प्रति विरोध का काम करके दरवाजे को सम्हालने का आधार बन जाती हैं। सारा जगत विपरीत ईंटों से बना हुआ है। वहां प्रकाश है, तो केवल इसीलिए कि अंधेरा भी है। और अंधेरा भी हो सकता है तभी तक, जब तक प्रकाश है। प्रकाश और अंधेरा विपरीत ईंटें हैं। …
