What does it mean to be utterly fulfilled?

To be utterly fulfilled is to realize that you already are what you seek; nothing is missing, and life becomes a playful dance of wakefulness without ambition.

— Osho
According to Osho, to be utterly fulfilled is to know you already are what you seek—nothing is missing, nowhere to go. It is wakefulness without ambition, moving playfully without goal, free of leader-follower hierarchies and ego. From this contentment you respect others as fellow travelers who also already have it, and you simply ‘shake and wake’ them, laughing at life’s grand joke.

Being utterly fulfilled means realizing you already have everything inside, so you relax, play, and help others wake up without pretending you’re above them.

Question: Second question: Osho, how can I satisfy God? Sudas Bharati! God is supreme fulfillment itself. God is not to be satisfied; you are to be fulfilled. But I understand what you mean: you are asking, “How should I be so that God becomes satisfied with me?” God is already satisfied with you, just as you are. He has not the slightest difficulty with you. You can keep your back turned to him—he is fulfilled. You can worship him—he is fulfilled. You can throw stones at him—he is fulfilled. You can offer flowers, you can sing songs, you can hurl abuses. You can believe in him, or you can refuse to believe in him. For lifetimes you may not remember him at all; or you may remember him day and night. God is fulfilled; there is no way for him to be unfulfilled.

It is not a difficult process because the process of looking is the same, just the object changes: you start turning your consciousness upon yourself. You may have seen many pictures of snakes swallowing their own tails. Those pictures are very ancient symbols of mystery schools; they represent this inner transformation. When your consciousness starts turning upon itself you become a circle, and the moment you are a circle you are no more the same old person. Your life starts having a new grace, a new beauty, a new beatitude. You become golden, you become precious. For the first time you have a contact with god, and that contact is a magical transformation. It is sheer magic and a miracle. Enjoy the trip, don't be too fixated on the target, Osho said in conclusion. Bliss is not a pond, it is a river. It is not static.
Question: Second question: Osho, becoming empty—that is, attaining supreme bliss—is no goal for me. Who am I? My previous births? Where do I go after death? From where do people come, where do they go? What is all this? I have been wandering for fourteen years. When I was fifteen, a monk told a story in his talk. Its impact carried me away. Then from one monk to another—whomever I heard of, I went to. I kept vows, I kept meditating. I tried to know myself. Then another question began to arise: Who is going to know whom? Who wants to see whom? Who will search for whom? Nothing makes sense. The breath goes on. The heart beats. And nothing else! Then a notion formed that no one knows the mystery of this life! All useless. All lies. All talk; nothing.

Osho, what is the relationship between meditation and patience?

If you sit to meditate to remove mental restlessness, you will keep looking back again and again: “Has it gone yet?” And the irony is that when you begin to meditate, restlessness will increase. Because what has been repressed will start surfacing; catharsis will begin. The rubbish you have kept hidden within and never allowed to express—meditation will break open those doors too. It will clean the house. Dust piled up for years, for births, will rise again; there will be gusts and storms. For a while even the little peace you had will be lost. Then you will panic: “I came for peace, and even what I had is gone.” Without patience, you could even become unhinged, because meditation brings such a great storm. The disease is not from a day or two; it’s from lifetimes. Meditation will break through all the layers to reach your innermost core. In…

Osho, time and again it feels as if there is nothing to attain, nowhere to go; there is life, to be lived. O Satguru, O Supreme Guru! Is this a trick of the mind or…? Protect your disciple at every step. Where I am today, as I am, is the fruit of your grace!

No, it is not a befooling by the mind. Not the mind’s trick. This is not coming from the mind. This is precisely my message. This has reached you from me. This is what I am saying to you, continuously—through a thousand ways, in a thousand styles, by a thousand devices—only this: there is nowhere to go; the Divine is here, right here, now. Do not postpone to tomorrow—It is today, this very moment. God is not a goal, God is a presence. Present now, in these trees, in the birds’ calls, in the movement of the wind. But for centuries you have been taught that God is up there in the heavens, to be found after death. And I tell you: what cannot be found in life will not be found after death. And what can be found after death can only be found in life—because life and death…
