According to Osho, gratitude is not thankfulness directed to an outer giver; that is mere gratefulness, a response to desire being gratified. True gratitude has no object—outer or inner. It arises spontaneously like a fragrance when all desires subside and one’s being flowers into awareness. As a by-product of awakening, it radiates as love, compassion, bliss, and ecstasy.
Real gratitude is a warm glow that comes from inside for no reason, not a ‘thank you’ to someone for giving you what you wanted.
