"I had the distinct impression that no profit should be made from the transmission of Buddhist teachings. This seems to contradict what I've read and learned about sharing Buddhist knowledge and wisdom. I find this regrettable because there aren't many opportunities for locals to learn more about the path, as most temple teachings aren't offered in French or English. Why is it that people of other nationalities can go to the temple and learn for free (which should be the case), but locals have to pay what I would consider large sums simply because we have no other option? I was under the distinct impression that there should be no profit taken from delivering Buddhist teachings.
