Bodhi Zendo in Perumalmalai, just outside Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, offers a quietly held hillside setting for personal retreat. The unhurried rhythm and natural surroundings suit practitioners exploring Osho’s active meditations, balanced with periods of stillness. Set among the misty slopes of the Palani Hills, with cool breezes and wooded valley views, it’s a grounding place to move, breathe, and let energy settle. Visitors often combine Dynamic or Kundalini with slow nature walks, returning clear and refreshed.

"It's a lovely and peaceful place. The views and gardens are beautiful. The rooms are simple, comfortable and have everything you need. It's quiet with lots of room to think and breathe. I know many young Buddhists are vegan like myself and I'd like to reassure you that there are actually lots of vegan options there. The website says they can't cater for any diets except vegetarian but 90% of dishes are vegan and made with coconut milk. It's difficult to always know what is or isn't vegan because they don't label it unfortunately but you can always ask the kitchen staff. The library there is great and full of interesting books. Personally I found the mini sesshin very difficult so I wouldn't really recommend this for people new to meditation, I think the normal days are much easier for newbies."

"Fabulous location. Very calm and beautiful 😍 Wonderful teachers, staff, facilitators, and administrators. The food is pretty good as well. A very good introduction to Zen meditation. Not too intense, making it ideal for beginners and intermediate students of meditation. Highly recommended 👌 👍"

"I stayed 4 nights there and all is perfect to have a meditation and restful stay. Staff is nice, rooms are confortable, food is awesome and location sweet. The méditation hall is perfect and time table very adequate for resourcing. What else do you want ? And price is soft : 400rs for accommodation and vegeterians meals. I have loved my stay there !!!"

"A peaceful and grounding experience. The silence and teachings helped me look within and reconnect with simplicity. The meals served here are simple and vegetarian (which include eggs and dairy), though not completely plant-based. That gave me a chance to reflect more deeply on what compassion really means — not just in thought or meditation, but also in the small everyday choices we make. I’m grateful for this time and hope the beautiful spirit of compassion at Bodhi Zendo continues to grow — embracing all living beings. 🙏🏼"
