Auroville: The City of Dawn is an international, meditation-centered township in Tamil Nadu, anchored by the Matrimandir, a distinctive golden sphere set within quiet gardens. Its peaceful lanes and diverse community encourage reflection and a steady, inward rhythm. If you practice Osho meditations, the calm, open setting serves well for self-led sessions—Dynamic in the morning, Kundalini or mindful movement later, or silent sitting at sunset. Visitors find spaciousness and inspiration here, with the Matrimandir’s presence gently holding the tone.

"As it says an experimental township. Visited Auroville in October -November and stayed for 3 days. It’s a township in a village as I felt. It’s about 160 km from Chennai and took 3 and half hours to reach . The scenic beauty of the roadside was charming and beautiful . Many establishments are there like hotels , convention hall , theatre hall , sinning areas cafe , bakery , residential areas and agricultural farms . General roads within the township are muddy and the whole area is green and thousands of trees and plants with natural decore. It’s a calm and tranquil with may natural inhabitants like birds and animals . Aurovillians are very friendly , polite and very softly spoken ."

"Worst, rude behaviour of people managing the place, overcrowded cafes. Can’t feel tranquil. Visit inside the Matrimandir needs prior permission of 3 months. Waste of time and energy."

"Not for everyone. If one doesn't likes temples and botanical gardens then this place is not for you.. very nice cafe but numerous stores selling items at 2x prices in comparison to the outside world. Ecarts and buses ply within."

"Too many restrictions on what you can and can’t do. By the time we visited the temple it started to feel claustrophobic because of the never ending instructions by the attendants on how to walk and how to talk. Couldn’t even meditate because of that. I was just waiting to come out. Also they showed a documentary which basically spoke lowly of all other religions and how these guys are some kind of superior creatures. Felt insulted, offended and suffocated at the same time. Clearly this was not for me."
