Core Insight:
According to Osho, between death and birth consciousness expresses itself through a subtle (astral) body rather than the gross body. This subtle body holds all memories, impressions, and desires—the blueprint programming the next incarnation—and can sometimes be perceived. It waits for suitable conditions to manifest tendencies in a new body. Only when even the subtle body dissolves does pure existence remain—liberation without expression.
