According to Osho, the masses are unconsciously asleep and cling to familiar dreams; authentic buddhas shatter these dreams by awakening people, so they provoke fear, anger, and misunderstanding. Frauds, however, soothe sleep, speak the familiar language of fear and consolations, and supply 'opium,' so they are welcomed and worshipped. True teachers cannot help but disturb; their compassion creates conflict with those addicted to the known.
