According to Osho, the ego has no real cause; it survives only on man-made conditions - comparisons, the mind's endless demand for 'more', and props like wealth, status, knowledge, even renunciation. First 'you' appears, then 'I', and this sense of separateness seeks crutches to inflate itself. If you drop these excuses and inquire into its cause, nothing is found - the ego collapses, because it belongs to conditioning, not existence.
