"I am deeply disappointed and outraged by the UTA Academy Cologne's handling of the health and safety obligations towards its paying participants. The seminar room was woefully inadequate. Despite numerous complaints and specific warnings last winter – including reports of illness – no effective air filtration system against viruses and bacteria was installed, even though participants explicitly requested it. Instead, up to 60 people were crammed into a stuffy, poorly ventilated room at a time when flu was rampant. There was no functioning way to get fresh air: The only skylight couldn't be opened because it closes automatically when it rains – and it did rain. The existing, old ventilation system primarily generated noise and clearly offered no hygienic benefit, functioning more like a simple recirculation system. The situation was so oppressive that many of us felt literally suffocated and uncomfortable, even though the training itself was already demanding enough and required everything we had! There is no sign of care or responsible conduct towards the participants here. To my knowledge, at least 15 participants have already been infected with influenza A, some with serious consequences, as even elderly parents in need of care were subsequently infected! This is not only negligent but also highly ethically problematic. Skimping on basic necessities like air quality and health protection is disrespectful to people who pay high participation fees and trust that their safety is taken seriously. I cannot and will no longer recommend the UTA Academy Cologne. I will consciously choose to complete future training courses elsewhere – if necessary, even abroad. This level of disregard for basic protective measures is unacceptable to me."
