Jo Ghar Bare Aapna #7

Sutra (Original)

Transliteration:
isake pahale ki hama āja kī ākhirī baiṭhaka meṃ praveśa kareṃ, dhyāna ke saṃbaṃdha meṃ do-cāra bāteṃ pūchī gaī haiṃ, vaha samajha lenā ucita hogā|
eka mitra ne pūchā hai ki ośo, ghara jākara hama kaise isa vidhi kā upayoga kara sakeṃge? pāsa-par̤osa ke logoṃ ko āvāja, cillānā ajība sā mālūma hogā| ghara ke logoṃ ko bhī ajība sā mālūma hogā|

Translation (Meaning)

Before we enter today’s last sitting, a few questions have been asked regarding meditation; it would be fitting to understand them.
A friend has asked: Osho, upon going home, how shall we be able to use this method? To the neighbors the sound, the shouting, will seem strange. To those at home it will seem strange as well.

Osho's Commentary

And within a day or two people become familiar—then there is no difficulty.
People perform namaz—no difficulty; people pray—no difficulty; people sing bhajans—no difficulty; people do the Ramdhun—no difficulty.
Because people have become familiar.
For a year or two there will be difficulty.
When, through this meditation, millions across the country begin to experiment, then the difficulty will not remain.
It will be recognized that this too is a process of meditation.
And it is such an intense process that not just two or four or ten, but millions—indeed, tens of millions—will be able to do it.
So those who are doing this experiment in the beginning will have a few hindrances.
They will have to bear people’s laughter too.
That is natural.
That much courage needs to be gathered.
And from those who are prepared to enter meditation, such courage can be expected.
Besides, this is not any very great courage.

Questions in this Discourse

Another friend has asked: Osho, if you are not present before us, how will we receive suggestions?
If the process has happened to you, there is no need for me to be there. You will be able to give yourself autosuggestion. And the truth is, if the process has entered you, even suggestion will not be needed; you will be able to complete the stage directly, without any suggestion. Ten minutes of breathing, ten minutes of dancing and shouting, ten minutes of asking, “Who am I?”—this you will be able to do.
Another friend has asked: Osho, how would ten minutes each sound?
It’s not necessary that it be exactly ten minutes. If it becomes twelve minutes, no harm; if fifteen, no harm. Just keep this estimate: it should not be less than ten minutes. In two to four days you’ll get the feel for it—just make sure it isn’t less than ten minutes. However much more it becomes, there’s no harm.

Then for three months you will need to complete all four stages. As soon as your process is complete—someone’s may be in three weeks, someone’s even in three days, but generally it will take three months to fully enter the process—then the second and third stages will drop away on their own. You will breathe for a minute or two and directly enter the fourth stage. They will no longer be necessary. Therefore, for three months you must certainly make the effort. And don’t stop it from your side. When any stage falls away on its own, that is another matter. You just keep going from your side.
A friend has asked, regarding the experiment of night observation—the practice of witnessing: Osho, here we practice witnessing with you as the object; what should we do at home?
The question is about being a witness. This witnessing can be of anything.
The nightly experiment of unblinking observation—one friend has asked: how will they do it without me?
The question is not about me. Keep gazing at the open sky for forty minutes without blinking. And very wondrous results will follow. As you look at the open sky for forty minutes, you will suddenly find that you have become a part of the sky, the sky has entered within you. Sit by the ocean; gaze unblinkingly at the sea for forty minutes, and you will find that you and the waves have become one. Keep looking at the trees and the same will happen. Anything can be used. And for those in whom an inner connection has been formed by looking at me—as many friends came today and told me that much was revealed to them—if they keep my picture, even then my work will be accomplished.
A friend has asked: Osho, without your presence, in the fifth stage—without you as a medium—what will become of us?
No, there is no need of me. After the third stage, there is no need of you either. Up to the third stage you are needed. After the third stage, even you are not needed. The fourth stage will happen, and after the fourth the fifth will happen on its own; you need not worry about it. No medium is needed. If you can complete the first three stages with your total strength, the rest will follow of itself, like a shadow. Even so, if you can reach the fourth stage and at any time you feel my presence is needed, I can be present anywhere. Your very remembrance will be enough—if you can reach the fourth stage! If your entry into the fourth stage happens, my presence can be invoked at any moment. It is not very difficult; it is a very simple matter.

In truth, we are accustomed to seeing one another only as bodies; that is why it seems difficult. We have other planes of life, other journeys; we are connected in other ways where time and space have no relevance.

If you reach the fourth stage, you can even ask me questions only within your mind and receive the answers. That is not very difficult. But the real issue is entry into the fourth stage.

So do the first three stages with your total strength; entry into the fourth will also happen. And today is the final meeting, so much will happen. About seventy percent of people have experienced much in these three days. For those who have had any experience, today the peak of their experience will also be revealed. So today, go very deeply into the experiment. Those who have had only slight experiences can also descend into deeper experience today. Those who have had no experience should make a last effort. Many times it happens that we dig and dig for long and no water appears, but sometimes just one more stroke of the spade and the water bursts forth. Often a thin layer of earth remains and we turn back.

So those to whom nothing has happened—a very small number, about thirty percent—let them make one last effort. And today, in more ways, much can happen, because the results of these three days have given this place a special quality. And today the call will rise with full power. Those to whom nothing has happened can also benefit from the presence of others. Therefore today, summon your total strength, fill yourself with complete resolve, and, with full prayer to the divine, undertake the night’s experiment.

For this final experiment today, two or three points are necessary to understand.

First: those who, in these three days, removed their clothing during the experiment—if they remove them in advance today, it will be better; then it will not remain a hindrance for them.

Second: all who want to stand will stand along the walls on all three sides so that those sitting in the center do not lose sight of me.

Third: not a single person will remain inside in the capacity of a spectator; otherwise, harm can happen to them. If anyone wants to be a spectator, go up to the gallery; do not, by mistake, stay inside. That would not only harm others; it could harm you too.

Those who had removed clothing should take it off beforehand today so that they do not have the trouble of removing it in the middle—this is one. Those who went deep and reached the inner state of removing clothes—I have been told by many that they felt like removing their clothes but hesitated, restrained themselves—let them too, in this last experiment, throw them aside; that will be appropriate. Those for whom a very deep experiment is going to happen should come up. And those seated upstairs should come down to the front. And those who wish to stand should stand along the walls on all four sides; no one will move about in the middle. Those who intend to stand—who later stand up—stand by the walls from now on. In the middle, only those who will sit are to remain; they are not to stand later. Anyone who has even the slightest thought that they might stand in the middle should come to the walls. Those seated upstairs who feel they will not be able to come into very fast movement, come down to the front. Only those who are going to come into intense movement will be upstairs.

Yes—those who are to stand, stand along the walls; on all three sides stand by the walls. Close the door there and stand by the wall. And remember, you are not to move from your place; stay at your own place. Do it quickly; then I will say two or three more things—understand them. Move to the walls. Only those who are to remain seated will stay in the middle; the rest move to the sides.

See that no one wanders from their place. No one is to roam in the middle. Stay exactly where you are. Whoever is seated will remain seated; whoever is standing will remain standing. Those who have even the slightest sense that it will be convenient for them to stand, stand by the walls now. Yes, move to the sides; you will not stand here in the middle.

Understand two or three things. First, for three days we put in our total energy; today we add a new sutra to it. This is the farewell sitting. Whatever you do today must be done in a mood of bliss as well—not only with the feeling of power. If you are laughing, power alone is not enough; laugh with the feeling of joy. If you are dancing, strength alone is not enough; give it the feeling of bliss—dance with joy. In your face, your hands and feet, your voice, your call, let your joy also be expressed; let not only your energy be expressed. Much will happen. As soon as we are charged, a great deal will happen in this room today. Therefore understand carefully what I am saying. Yesterday I completed the experiment in fifteen minutes that should have been thirty. Some people stood up in the middle, which caused an obstruction; people lost sight of me. So no one will stand in the middle.

Keep your attention on me; do not blink your eyes; keep looking at me the whole time; and then, whatever happens to you, do that. It may be that someone does not know what to do; then, to the rhythm of what is happening to your neighbor, become part of it—give your neighbor an echo and a response. But in the entire hall, let no one remain empty; let everyone be doing something. Let there be thirty minutes for doing; afterward we will go into ten minutes of rest. Whoever sits in rest during the thirty minutes will not be able to obtain the secret and mystery of the ten minutes that follow.

Remember: let bliss be joined with strength. Someone will dance with joy, someone will laugh with joy, someone will cry with joy, someone will shout with joy, someone will begin to sing with joy—but add that feeling of bliss to the power. This is the farewell sitting; with the feeling of joy we will also be able to thank the divine. And today, you must put in your total energy; do not hold anything back.
