Chapter Summary
Osho presents the Gita as a map for waking up while living in the world, not a manual of moral rules; its heart is inner revolution, not asceticism. Using Arjuna on the battlefield as a living metaphor, the discourse makes clear that the real fight is awareness confronting the mind’s fears, desires and its paralysis. The central practice is to become the witness: act fully and responsively in life while watching the arising of the doer, so action becomes spontaneous rather than ego-driven. Through persistent meditation and discriminating awareness the ego loosens and duty (dharma) is transformed into a freedom-filled, loving participation. On action: right action is rooted in awareness, effortless when the sense of a separate doer drops and responsibility replaces guilt. On meditation: meditation is the ground in which action happens — a continuous witnessing that dissolves tension and allows true intelligence to act. On ego: the ego is a constructed center of compulsions and must be seen clearly and outgrown, not violently rejected. On love and dharma: love arises when one lives one’s true duty without attachment, turning obligation into celebration and presence.

यदि भाः सदृशी सा स्याद्भासस्तस्य महात्मनः।। 12।।
तत्रैकस्थं जगत्कृत्स्नं प्रविभक्तमनेकधा।
अपश्यद्देवदेवस्य शरीरे पाण्डवस्तदा।। 13।।
ततः स विस्मयाविष्टो हृष्टरोमा धनंजयः।
प्रणम्य शिरसा देवं कृताञ्जलिरभाषत।। 14।।
अर्जुन उवाच
पश्यामि देवांस्तव देव देहे सर्वांस्तथा भूतविशेषसंघान्।
ब्रह्माणमीशं कमलासनस्थमृषींश्च सर्वानुरगांश्च
दिव्यान्।। 15।।
अनेकबाहूदरवक्त्रनेत्रं पश्यामि त्वां सर्वतोऽनन्तरूपम्।
नान्तं न मध्यं न पुनस्तवादिं पश्यामि विश्वेश्वर विश्वरूप।। 16।।
किरीटिनं गदिनं चक्रिणं च तेजोराशिं सर्वतो दीप्तिमन्तम्।
पश्यामि त्वां दुर्निरीक्ष्यं
समन्ताद्दीप्तानलार्कद्युतिमप्रमेयम्।। 17।।
divi sūryasahasrasya bhavedyugapadutthitā|
yadi bhāḥ sadṛśī sā syādbhāsastasya mahātmanaḥ|| 12||
tatraikasthaṃ jagatkṛtsnaṃ pravibhaktamanekadhā|
apaśyaddevadevasya śarīre pāṇḍavastadā|| 13||
tataḥ sa vismayāviṣṭo hṛṣṭaromā dhanaṃjayaḥ|
praṇamya śirasā devaṃ kṛtāñjalirabhāṣata|| 14||
arjuna uvāca
paśyāmi devāṃstava deva dehe sarvāṃstathā bhūtaviśeṣasaṃghān|
brahmāṇamīśaṃ kamalāsanasthamṛṣīṃśca sarvānuragāṃśca
divyān|| 15||
anekabāhūdaravaktranetraṃ paśyāmi tvāṃ sarvato'nantarūpam|
nāntaṃ na madhyaṃ na punastavādiṃ paśyāmi viśveśvara viśvarūpa|| 16||
kirīṭinaṃ gadinaṃ cakriṇaṃ ca tejorāśiṃ sarvato dīptimantam|
paśyāmi tvāṃ durnirīkṣyaṃ
samantāddīptānalārkadyutimaprameyam|| 17||
Translation (Meaning)
their brilliance might resemble the radiance of that Great-souled One.।। 12।।
There, in one place, the whole universe, manifoldly divided,
the Pāṇḍava beheld within the body of the God of gods.।। 13।।
Then he, wonder-struck, his hair bristling with joy,
Dhanañjaya bowed his head to the Deity, palms joined, and spoke.।। 14।।
Arjuna said
I behold, O God, within Your body all the gods, and likewise the diverse hosts of beings.
Brahmā, the Lord on the lotus-seat; the seers all, and the serpents—
divine.।। 15।।
With countless arms, bellies, mouths, and eyes, I behold You—form infinite on every side.
No end, no middle, nor again a beginning of Yours do I see, O Lord of the universe, O Universal Form.।। 16।।
Crowned, mace-bearing, discus-wielding; a mass of light, shining everywhere,
I behold You, hard to behold,
on every side blazing like fire and sun—immeasurable.।। 17।।
