What is the significance of silence in teachings?

According to Osho, real teaching springs from silence, not from compulsive talk. Ordinary speech is mere catharsis for inner restlessness; the awakened, like Buddha, abide in silence and speak only with effort, for the listener’s sake. From such silence, words become pointers rather than noise—transparent, compassionate, and effective—conveying presence more than ideas.
